Old Marylebone Town Hall Wedding, London | Ruth & Nathan

This was a fun and action-packed wedding with Ruth and Nathan that involved transporting between five venues throughout Central London during the course of the day.

It commenced with Nathan, who was getting ready with his parents, sister, Best Man and his absolutely adorable black spaniel dogs who would be the ring-bearers at the ceremony later on that afternoon.  After taking a few flat-lays and finding some nice natural light for the getting ready photos, it was time to pack my bags again and take a 5 minute walk to where Ruth and her bridesmaids were making some final touches to their hair and makeup while enjoying a glass or two of bubbly.  I soon noticed that Ruth’s veil hanging up by the window had the words “Box Box Box” on it; a humorous reference to the fact both her and Nathan work in the Formula 1 industry.  Then Ruth made me aware of a rather large ceremonial sword that she wanted photographed since it was a family heirloom once owned by her Grandfather (or perhaps Great Grandfather, I can’t quite recall) and would be wielded later while the cake was being cut.  I took a few “reveal” photos where Ruth’s parents saw here in her dress for the first time before, in what seemed like no time at all, we had to jump into our waiting minivans, or Rolls Royce Phantom in Ruth’s case, to make our way to the wedding venue itself; none other than Old Marylebone Town Hall, made famous for hosting many celebrity weddings such as Paul McCartney’s and Liam Gallagher’s.  After taking a few quick photos of Nathan and guests at the nearby pub The Allsop Arms, I returned back to The Old Marylebone Town Hall for the the arrival of Ruth and her father in their splendid black Phantom.

After taking a few quick shots of Ruth being daintily helped out of the car by her proud father, we made our way to one of the many glorious rooms (in this case the Pimlico Room) that make this venue such a pleasure to photograph.  The ceremony was delightful, as on cue, the two lovely dogs delivered the rings from specially designed pouches attached to their collars.  Vows were exchanged and tears were shed.  We then made our way through the wood-panelled corridors and marble staircases, stopping briefly at the lead windows for a quick pic, to emerge on the iconic steps for the confetti toss and group photos.  After those were in safely in the can (or memory cards) Ruth, Nathan and I walked to Salisbury Place, situated just behind Old Marylebone Town Hall, to take advantage of the quiet, cobbled street and pretty house frontages that help make this location so superb for couple portraits.  We then piled back into the Phantom and made our way to Kettner’s, a rather lovely wine bar and restaurant, where all the guests were already waiting to toast the Bride and Groom.  This was also the venue for the speeches and cake cutting (the ceremonial sword ably coping with this task) alongside some really delicious bar food.

Our final stop was The Ivy, where a few more beverages were consumed followed by a sumptuous sit-down dinner.  The evening concluded with the first dance and then the party started!  What a thrilling day it was and I truly felt honoured to be just a small part of it.
