Mayfair Library Wedding, London | Carmine & Federico
Mayfair Library is a lovely little registry office with an extremely apt name, given it’s situated above an actual library and nestled within a quiet part of the mainly bustling Mayfair part of Central London.
Carmine and Federico are both Italians currently working in the UK, so wanted a small-scale wedding but with a strong London vibe to give their overseas guests a little taste of what this amazing city has to offer. Proceedings kicked off in the pretty Mount Street Gardens, which is a secret oasis of calm surrounded by opulent mansion blocks, which gave everyone a chance to greet the couple and me the opportunity to photograph all the initial hugs, button-holes, confetti cups (in preparation for later) and other little details.
The ceremony itself was in the charming wood-panelled Mayfair Room, which thankfully is blessed with a decent amount of naturally diffused daylight which always makes for flattering photos. The ceremony was a passionate affair, with plenty of the guests eyes welling up with emotion as the vows were recited and the rings exchanged. After the obligatory applause and signing of the register, we made our way downstairs and onto the steps of Mayfair Library itself in order to shower the newlyweds with the rose petal confetti that had been duly prepared earlier.
The group photos were taken in Mount Street Gardens where I gathered people under the shade of a large London Plane tree amid a motley crew of bystanders and office-workers cheering us on once they realised a wedding was being documented. Thanks to the shot list provided by Carmine and Federico in advance, the group pics were completed within 15 minutes, allowing us all to make the short walk to The Footman pub where drinks and canapés would be awaiting in the upstairs bar specifically booked for the occasion. After some eagerly consumed refreshments, it was time for the speeches which triggered more laughs and tears in equal measure. There we stayed until the party eventually moved to the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane for more food a the very fine dining spot, Galvin at Windows.
