Grovefield House Wedding, Buckinghamshire | Hannah & Adam

If I had to try and summarise this wedding in one word, it would have to be FUN!  There was an ice-cream cart, outdoor games, space-hoppers, an amazing BBQ and an expertly choreographed first dance.  Sometimes I need to pinch myself that documenting days such as these is actually my job!

My day at Grovefield House started with Adam and his pals for a bit groom prep.  Occasionally you can sense the nervous anticipation during this part of the day, but not with these guys.  Here I was with a bunch of lads who clearly had a huge amount of love and respect for each other, but the banter was well and truly flowing as they eased themselves into their sharp suits in readiness for the celebrations ahead.

The Hamilton Room was the chosen space to hold the ceremony, and it was beautifully prepared with a floral arch, a white runway and more floral arrangements on the aisle seating.  Then it was straight out through the large French doors into the inviting lawn for the confetti toss.  I can’t recall the last time I saw quite so much confetti being thrown, with each guest seemingly armed with two handfuls each, but once the petals had settled, it was time to head to the ice-cream carts for some very welcome refreshment on such a warm summer afternoon.

Once everyone’s sticky hands were wiped clean we all congregated for the group photos followed by a bit of quiet time with the bride and groom for couple portraits.  These were kept deliberately simple and were done and dusted in less than 10 minutes so they could return to their friends at the open-air BBQ that was laid on for the wedding breakfast.

As people tucked into their burgers, a range of party games kept everyone entertained in-between courses, with the most popular (and hilarious) being the space-hopper races.  Of course, I had to have a go too and it was considerably trickier than I remembered as kid!  However, it did make for some truly brilliant ‘blooper’ photos as formally-dressed participants were literally falling over like skittles as the racing commenced.

When the injured were patched up, it was back inside for the speeches and first dance, but not before Adam whipped out his guitar and sang a self-penned song for Hannah which was appreciated by all.  Once the deserved applause had died down, both bride and groom headed over to the dance-floor for their spectacularly choreographed first dance, before being joined by everyone to get the party started which continued into the wee small hours.
