Brent Civic Centre Wedding | Cherry & Amar
I was absolutely delighted to document this intimate wedding between Cherry and Amar at Brent Civic Centre in London. Although I only spent four hours with the couple and their lovely guests, we managed to cram in almost all the key moments you’d expect from a full day’s coverage.
We convened at Brent Civic Centre in Wembley, where Cherry and Amar greeted their friends and family in the spacious foyer that awaits as you enter the centre. We convened there for around 30 minutes as a succession of embraces were gratefully received by the happy couple. In what seemed like no time at all, the officiants ushered us into the Ceremony Suite while a couple of very tech-savvy guests set-up a live video feed of the event for Cherry’s family in the Philippines who unfortunately weren’t able to be present. As is customary with civil marriages the proceedings elapsed in the blink-of-an-eye and in no time at all, Groom was kissing Bride to thunderous applause and a few tears of joy.
One of the advantages Brent Civic Centre has over many other London registry offices is the green space directly alongside, referred to as the Lounge Garden. It’s a fenced-off area especially designated for weddings and allowed the full party of guests to pile inside for the group photos, followed by a little bit of time with just me, Cherry and Amar for some couple photos.
After those were completed, we crossed the road into the White Horse Pub where the rest of the guests were waiting for the newly married couple to arrive and kick-off the reception with a glass or two of something delicious and sparkling. Some nibbles arrived shortly after, to be followed by an emotional speech from Amar’s father. More merriment was on the menu until the wedding cake (homemade by Cherry) was brought out and duly cut, accompanied by another hearty round of applause.
After we’d had our fill of cake, which was indeed a very tasty thing, it was quiz time, where the guests were presented with a series of multiple-choice questions and fun-facts all about the newly married couple. Alas, it was then my calling to leave the celebrations so they could continue, so I’ve been told, well into the small hours.
