Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding, London | Ellie & Dan
This was a delightfully intimate little wedding between Dan and his stunning fiancé Ellie. Although they didn’t live in London, they definitely wanted an urban vibe and settled on Chelsea as the place they wanted to tie the knot.
The day started in one of the grand rooms at the Chelsea Townhouse Hotel, just a stone’s throw from Sloane Square, where Ellie was getting ready with her mum and the obligatory glass of Champagne! I don’t usually interfere or direct bride prep, preferring instead to be a “fly-on-wall” and simply capture all the details and the flow of the morning as it unfolds. In another part of the hotel, Dan was also getting ready with his soon-to-be brother-in-law, so I made sure I built a bit of slack into their timeline to ensure I could spend 20 minutes or so with them, while Ellie had the final touch-ups to her hair and make-up. However, just before being helped into her dress, it was time for her to open a little gift, along with some very sweet words, that Dan had given her to open on this very special morning.
In short order, Dan was ready and took his taxi to Chelsea Old Town Hall, just 5 minutes away and the venue for the wedding ceremony. A quarter of an hour later, it was Ellie’s turn and I rode with her and her mum to the Town Hall where she was quickly ushered into one of the rooms for her obligatory legal interview, while I made my way to meet Dan who was patiently waiting in the Rossetti Room.
As is customary with Registry Office weddings, the ceremony itself just flew by and in what seemed like no time at all, we were on the fabulous steps looking out onto the King’s Road with the magnificent flower arch providing the perfect backdrop for the confetti toss. Once all the confetti had been brushed off the hair and shoulders, we made our way through the pretty Chelsea streets, as Ellie and Dan had both specifically requested they wanted some pictures taken in and around the area. In my opinion, Godfrey Street, with it’s rows of multi-coloured houses perfectly encapsulate the vibe of this part of London, so we headed there before finishing up at Chelsea Green (basically England’s poshest “traffic island”).
I love these smaller, winter weddings, especially when they’re in such a fabulous part of London.
